There's an argument to be made that Southwest Florida's largest city is also its luckiest. That's because, despite the major hurricanes that have impacted our region in the past several decades, Cape Coral has been spared the worst damage in all of them, particularly when it comes to storm surge. This isn't to say the city and its 200,000+ residents haven't suffered damage, flooding and months of cleanup after our most recent hurricanes. Nearly a year after Ian, there's still plenty of blue tarps on damaged roofs throughout the city.
