CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A manatee rescue mission is underway at a Cape Coral canal Wednesday morning. A mom and her calf have been spotted swimming in the water near NW 30th Place and NW 18th terrace, right by the Coral Oaks Golf Course. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is aiding in the rescue. According to NBC2 crews on scene, the FWC has placed a net blocking the manatees from exiting the canal. A resident stated that she called the FWC last week after seeing two manatees.
